Matt Gough

General Partner & CEO

Matt is a CPA (inactive) who began his career in 1990 with KPMG Peat Marwick where he was primarily responsible for audits in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, retail and wholesale distribution, technology, and hospitality. During his nine years with KPMG, Matt assisted with several mergers & acquisitions and private & public offerings, including initial public offerings (IPOs). Matt spent two years at KPMG in the Netherlands focused on multi-national, U.S. reporting clients, including GE, Royal Dutch Shell, Philips Electronics, and EA Sports.

In 1999, Matt joined KPNQwest (a publicly listed alternative telecom carrier based in Amsterdam), as the SVP and Corporate Controller. Matt was a member of the company’s IPO team and assisted in the design and implementation of the company’s financial systems and reporting processes, including the implementation of an internal shared service center supporting operations across 15 countries.

In 2002, Matt joined VIA Net.Works (a publicly listed internet and VPN provider based in London) as SVP and Controller. He was later promoted to CFO and served as a member of the executive management team. Matt was responsible for all aspects of the company’s internal and external financial reporting, as well as led the M&A team.

From 2007 to 2012, Matt served as the CFO of Lifestyle Family Fitness (private health and fitness chain based in Tampa) with 55 health clubs across four states. Matt was responsible for all aspects of the company’s financial reporting to the Board of Directors and other key stakeholders. In 2012, Matt assisted with the successful sale and transition of the business to two dominant industry leaders.

From 2013 to 2018, Matt has served as Managing Director of PDQ Southern Texas (private franchisee of a fast casual restaurant based in Tampa). Matt was responsible for the franchisee’s unit development and roll out, operations, finance and reporting to the Board of Directors and the various other stakeholders. In late 2018, he assisted in the ultimate sale of the PDQ Southern Texas territory to the PDQ franchisor.
